Drake W. Shunneson

Associate Attorney

Drake Shunneson began his legal career in 2007 after graduating from the University of Colorado Law School. In 2010 he obtained a Masters in Law from Loyola University Chicago School of Law. Since 2010, Drake has focused his career on litigation and has litigated hundreds, if not thousands, of cases. Drake is a voracious reader of Statutes and Case Law and has many publications to his name.

Drake comes to the office with several years of experience in many different types of litigation including both civil litigation such as foreclosure defense, divorce and family law, personal injury, wrongful death, medical malpractice, business litigation, evictions, health law and real estate litigation.

Drake also has experience in criminal prosecution as a former village prosecutor for Island Lake as well as a criminal defense attorney. Early in his career he also had the privilege of working with the International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda as a remote extern.

Drake has a reputation as a fearless no-nonsense, and straightforward, litigation attorney that is respected by his clients, colleagues, and judges. Drake has dedicated himself to protecting his clients’ rights and help them resolve complex cases. Being an attorney to Drake means helping individuals with their very real problems and making sure the system that was built on noble ideas and policies of helping people actually does. Drake will make sure his client’s get the representation they deserve in every case.

Drake’s family has lived for generations in Lake County. His grandfather, Arnold “Barney” Shunneson was the owner and operator of the Channel Lake Boat House on the chain of lakes in Antioch, Illinois. He himself has been a resident of Libertyville, Illinois since 2008 where he currently resides with his wife and three beautiful children. He enjoys spending time with his family, including coaching his son’s football team, watching the Bears, and decorating his home for the holidays. If you happen to be driving through Libertyville and see an over decorated house, then there’s a chance you’ve seen Drake’s house before.

Drake is a member of the Lake County Bar Association, McHenry County Bar Association, Illinois State Bar Association, and the Nordic Law Club. He had the honor of serving on the Board of Governor’s for the McHenry County Bar Association from 2019 – 2021 as the Technology Chair.
